Last Friday, Eastern Junior-Senior High School held it's annual Veteran's Day Assembly at 10am. Many local veterans were present, and our Keynote Speaker, Mr. Jon Wolfe, Eastern Alum, did a tremendous job speaking with our students about military sacrifice, hard work, and opportunities he had due to his United States Military Service.
Mr. Joesph Barnhart, Eastern Local School District Resource Officer also spoke to students about finding your "E" (Employed, Enrolled or Enlisted) at Eastern Junior Senior High School specifically through military service as he did. National Honor Society Members Wyatt McCune, Tyler Hill, Cooper Barnett, Gavan Smith, Sidney Dillon, and Cassium Powell greeted Veterans as they were coming in and were an intrical part of setup and helping serve coffee and donuts to those in attendance.
Eastern's own Oliva Householder was presented her award at the ceremony for winning The Voice of Democracy Contest for Tuppers Plains VFW and she will advance to the district competition. This award was presented by VFW Commander Charles Mugrage and Andrea Neutzling Vice Commander. All students personally thanked our guests individually as a testament of their gratitude.
We would like to thank all Veterans past and present for your sacrifices as there is no greater love than self-sacrifice on behalf of others. All veterans will also receive free entry to any Eastern Junior-Senior High School Athletic Events this month, including our home opening varsity basketball games on 11/25/24 for girls, and 11/29/24 for boys. A special thanks also goes to Mrs. Jennifer Huffman, Cheer Coach and the Eastern High School Cheerleaders, Mr. Jared Spencer and his junior-high students, and Ms. Jody Wamsley and her students for helping decorate our school and providing the coffee.Additonally, we would like to thank Mr. Frey and the Eastern Junior-Senior High School Band for their excellent performances of The National Anthem and America The Beautiful.
