Due to the predicted inclement weather conditions this week, we have decided to modify the reunification drill to ensure the safety of everyone involved, and to ensure our families have time to prepare. The drill will now take place during the school day and students will be dismissed at the regular time and dismissal will take place the same way it always does. We will perform an evacuation drill on the 9th, but will have the drill completed prior to dismissal. We will continue to look at various safety drills for our staff and students, and are examining the possibilities for a reunification drill in the future.
We understand that changes can be an inconvenience, and we appreciate your cooperation as we navigate these adjustments. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we believe these measures are necessary to ensure a successful drill.
If you have any questions or concerns about the modified drill arrangements, please don't hesitate to contact us. Your partnership and support are invaluable to us as we work together to maintain a safe learning environment for all.
Thank you,
Nick Dettwiller

Saturday, May 4th, our top 12 AAC archers traveled to Nelsonville to participate in the All-Star Tournament.
This tournament definitely wasn't a normal one. Our archers competed with 6 targets that were different between high, middle, and elementary school. There were some regular Bullseye targets, but there were also targets that ranged from a fox, wolf, and the ever elusive stegosaurus. The targets were placed at different distances from the lin, which challenged all of the archers. While they kept scor, this tournament was a chance for the top 12 AAC archers in each division to have a little fun. Awards were given for this shoot to the top 3 archers.
We're proud to announce that Jayla Tripp got 1st Place in Elementary Girl, and Emmett Jordan got 3rd Place in Middle School boys. Congratulations to those two.
While we did awards archers, coache and parents were also provided with lunch. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work of all the archers.
Agai, the following is a list of archers by division and their ranking within the conference:

Joshua Jones (1)
High School Female
Raeann Schagel (5)
Middle School Male

Dear Eastern Local Families,
The Eastern Local Safety Team in our continued efforts to keep our students safe and prepared will be conducting an Evacuation and Reunification drill on May 9th, 2024. Our safety team firmly believes the many drills our team conducts at school make our students safer and more prepared. This reunification drill is something that will help our families, teachers, and students become more prepared for other possible difficult situations.
For this exercise, we will be evacuating the building and setting up a reunification site on campus. The students will be reunified with their parents, or a friend or family member identified on their EMERGENCY PICKUP SHEET (note, this is not the walker line pick up list). The pickup area will be clearly marked, and staff will direct you to the pickup location. For the purpose of the exercise, please stay in your car and have you I.D. ready so we can bring the student to you. We ask that you have your I.D. ready so we can quickly unite you with your student and allow you to safely leave the lot. Bus dismissal will be at the regularly scheduled time, but we will allow for students to be picked up any time after 1:30. Please, do not come on campus prior to 1:30. We will have several staff, public safety officials, and other local agencies involved in the exercise on campus helping with the drill. This exercise while being at regular pickup time will simulate an early dismissal. Students who ride the bus will participate as well. If your student regularly rides the bus, the buses will still run their regular routes and times as best we can.
We understand that life can sometimes throw unexpected curveballs and you may find yourself unable to pick up your child personally. In such instances, please remember that you have the option to designate someone from your emergency pick-up list, which you provided at the beginning of the school year. If you need to update or add anyone to this list, please feel free to do so before the drill date.
We understand this could be an inconvenience to our staff and families, but we feel these drills are extremely important. Your cooperation and understanding can help make this drill run smoothly. At Eastern Local Schools, the safety and well-being of our students and staff are paramount. Your understanding and cooperation are deeply appreciated as we work together to ensure that our emergency procedures are not only effective but also conducted with care and attention to detail. We hope you will also take this opportunity to review your own procedures and processes as a family in emergency situations.
Should you have any questions, concerns, or ideas leading up to the drill, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at the school. Your partnership and support are invaluable to us.
Thank you,
Nick Dettwiller
