Jump Start

Starting this week, our first, second, and third graders have had the opportunity to “Jump Start” their day with a little physical activity. They have been invited to walk around the gym for 10 minutes each morning.

Why is this an important way to start the day? Research shows that students who are physically active tend to have higher grades, better school attendance, improved cognitive performance (e.g., memory), and classroom behaviors (e.g., on-task behavior). Starting the day with a chance to move, wiggle, and chat with classmates and friends, provides Eastern students with a physical activity to “Jump Start” an amazing day of learning! We also want to say a big thank you to the staff and our OU Interns for helping supervise this opportunity!

We are looking forward to warmer mornings, so students and staff can walk around the playground on the walking path!
