Representatives from Eastern Local along with representatives from other neighboring districts who are part of the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools (CORAS) recently went to the State House to meet with multiple legislators about the importance of funding for our local schools in the upcoming budget.
The current proposed budget from the Governor would see a majority of school districts in the Appalachian region see cuts to their budgets moving forward. The advocacy work that the members of CORAS tried to explain to the legislators was the impact it could have on individual schools, and the possible cuts they would have to make. We are incredibly thankful to the legislators for taking time out of their busy schedules to meet with us.
If you have any questions about how this would impact Eastern or want to help in the advocacy work for our schools please reach out to us.
