This year Eastern Elementary has added a new STEAM enrichment program for K-4 students. Students worked throughout the school year to learn about the Engineering Design Process through various challenges where teams of students used their skills to design and create artifacts. The big challenge to finish the year was to create a marble roller coaster using a cereal box, paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, tape, craft sticks, and hot glue. Each grade's requirements were geared toward their learning level. After basic construction, coasters were painted and decorated by each student with his or her own design ideas. These roller coasters were displayed and judged at the family night event held recently. The following students were awarded in each category. Pictured above and listed below are the winners.
